What a medical pedicure is
A medical pedicure — chiropody, or podiatry in the everyday British sense — treats what walking and shoes produce day after day: hard skin, corns, nails that grow in or thicken. It is health care, carried out with sterile instruments by a registered professional, with the aim of walking without pain rather than simply having pretty feet.
What can be treated
- Corns and soft corns: the core is removed with a sterile scalpel.
- Calluses and hard skin: reduced and smoothed until the skin is supple again.
- Ingrown toenails: the offending spike of nail is freed at an early stage.
- Thick or misshapen nails: cut and thinned with a rotary burr.
- Fungal nails: thinned to support the medical treatment.
- Cracked heels: hard skin reduced so the cracks can heal.
- Verrucas: telling a wart from a corn, then treating or referring.
- Diabetic feet: careful care and regular checks.

Skin, nails, the shape of the foot and how it bears weight — and your shoes, which often explain half the problem.
Treatment
Nails cut and thinned, corns removed, hard skin reduced, with sterile instruments. Normally painless.

Frequently asked questions
Does a medical pedicure hurt?
Normally not. Hard skin and the core of a corn are dead tissue with no nerves, so removing them is painless. Relief is often felt by the end of the session.
Is this a cosmetic pedicure?
No. It is health care: treating corns, calluses, ingrown or thick nails and cracked heels. Nail polish and beauty treatments are not offered.
I have diabetes. Can I come?
Yes, and it is recommended. Diabetic feet need careful treatment and regular checks. Please mention your diabetes and medication when booking.
Do you make orthotics or insoles?
No. Dominique Rozan focuses on chiropody and foot reflexology and no longer makes orthotic insoles.
